Active Fundraiser For the 2010 Olympiad

Active Fundraiser for the Canadian Team for the 2010 Chess Olympiad

Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010

A 5 round, Active Swiss tournament

The Canadian team will be particpating in the 39th Chess Olympiad in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia.

This Active fundraiser is to raise funds to support the Canadian Team.

The event drew 27 participants - a new record for us, although just barely (the old record was 26).   The total for the 2010 Olympiad team raised stood at $299 but Chris Eve took pity on us and tossed in an extra loonie to make it a round $300.

First place was taken by Gavin Steininger with a 5-0 score.   Tied for 2-3 were Howard Wu and Roger Patterson with 4-1.  Top U17000 was Philip Boyle with 3-2 and 2nd U1700 was Nick Milonas with 2.5-2.5.  Top U1400 were Mathew Geng and his father Li Geng, both with 2-3 scores.

Full standings at the bottom of this page.  You can also see the standings (and new ratings) in our online ratings database here.  This tournament was rated by the  Victoria Chess Club.
