The Victoria Chess Club meets every Wednesday  from 6:00 to 8:45 at the downtown central library branch on Broughton St.   We usually have 15-20 people playing from novice to master.

 

NEW: Club AGM Jan. 29   7:00pm in Study Room #3 (near the community room on the map below).

 

Club Meets In the Library on the Main Floor:  

 

 

On the main floor, turn left at the entrance and walk  to X marks the spot.

 

 

 

Current & Upcoming Events:

 

5th Annual Victoria Open:   5 round Swiss Jan. 17-19 2020.

 

BC vs Washington Match:   By Invitation, same time, location, as the Victoria Open.

 

Club AGM Wednesday Jan 29.  7:00pm Study room #3

 

BC Open:   Feb. 15-17 (Family day Weekend) a 6 round Swiss (Richmond)

 

14th Annual Grand Pacific Open:  The tournament of the year; one of BC's biggest.   Easter (April 10-14) 2020.   $6000 Guaranteed Prize Fund

 

45th Annual Keres Memorial:   (Richmond)   BC's longest running tournament.   May 16-18 2020.    Increased prize fund of $7000 Guaranteed.

 

Monthly events: 

     Club championship (Gonnason Cup):  2 active games against the same opponent, the second Wednesday of each month.   See Standings: 

     Active Chess: 2 rounds on the third Wednesday of each month. Trophy every 4 months. See Standings:

Other Events:

 

- a 5 round active fundraiser tournament is held twice a year

- The Grand Pacific Open (Easter, BC's biggest tournament)

- Jack Taylor Memorial (November, standard weekend Swiss)
